Crawford Bookkeeping started as a bookkeeping service only in 1999, after David Crawford observed the pitiful state of the average business in the Grand Rapids area in complying with minimal bookkeeping requirements. He also had a long-term interest in tax preparation, working commercially with H&R Block as a tax preparer over a period of 30 years. David earned an "Enrolled Agent" designation which allows him to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
Dave's availability was made known to friends and the business was started. Knowledge of his low-cost and efficient approach to bookkeeping spread quickly. Customer satisfaction for this service rose dramatically.
Dave began to offer tax preparation in people's homes in 2000. This means that preparation is done completely in the privacy of the the client's home by appointment using the latest technology. Free electronic filing was offered in 2002, with all returns now filed electronically. Also in 2002, David began to offer his services to CPAs and Financial Consulting firms for back room tax preparation through the present time. The first audits and consulting projects were completed in 2003.
